A really good read, as a local in the area I could relate to a lot of the landmarks in the book. Actually bought the book from the author from his taxi with my brother in law after dropping off our very happy and well oiled father in law following a trip to the Liberty stadium to see a 0-5 Chelsea win… Booked signed as well.. The drama, absurdity, perversity and sometimes danger of taxi high/low life is captured in a detached but sensitive manner by the man whose motto is: `always willing to help’. In `Taxi Taxi’, featured passengers enjoy fleeting and memorable if not always honourable centre stage. Although after reading `Taxi Taxi’ one realises that the driver/author Jeff Owen: aka `Joffers’ to his many aficionados, is its most beguiling character and worthy of a serious study himself. Hopefully this `peoples history’ often ignored by mainstream media will spread the `Joffers’ effect to a deserved international audience and cries out for a TV/film treatment. Five stars.
